A message from our President

Hello and welcome to the Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi!

My name is Lucia Donovan, and I’m honored to be serving Tau as Chapter President. Being able to serve this group of leaders, scholars, and sisters has been such a privilege. While the role is far from easy, the gratitude I feel for being with this group of women and working with an outstanding executive team fuels me. Alpha Phi sisters share a commitment to excellence. I ran for the position to give back to our chapter and to recognize the hard work of our sisters in living up to high standards of excellence.

Recruitment was an experience truly like no other, and the times I spent dying laughing in our living room and sharing heartfelt moments with sisters helped me realize that I’d found a new home. A home with abundant love, support, and happiness that knows no bounds. This sisterhood truly represents Alpha Phi’s motto: Union Hand in Hand. Our sisters cheer us on through successes and celebrations, and are always there in times of need.

University is an incredibly transformative part of a young woman's life. Having a mentor, like a big sister, learning about new opportunities, having a sense of belonging, and all the benefits of our community shape our experiences at UO and who we become afterward. We’re beyond lucky to have the support system granted by Alpha Phi and all of the Panhellenic Council.

To the PNM/parent/family member/etc, interested in learning more about our chapter, I hope you enjoy browsing our website and learning about our chapter and the PHC community! AOE <3

Loyally,

Lucia Donovan, PC ‘24

History

Alpha Phi was founded at Syracuse University by ten of the first nineteen women admitted to the newly opened university. Our founders were women with brave hearts that were filled with a noble purpose and with eyes that saw clearly into the future. These were the Original Ten, the founders of Alpha Phi. Pursuing their studies in a thoroughly male-dominated environment, these women had a pressing need for friends who could sympathize with each other's problems and support each others' aspirations. On September 18, 1872, these ten women initiated themselves into Alpha Phi. To learn more about the great legacy of Alpha Phi, check out www.alphaphi.org.
